Mamanuca Islands has 20 catalogued beaches. A volcanic archipelago west of Nadi, with reef-protected lagoons and the uninhabited island of Monuriki, the real-life set of the film Cast Away.
High season runs from July to mid-September. Outside it prices fall 30 to 50 per cent and most access points, restaurants and local transport keep running.
